Organize Linen Closet & Hang Pictures

Posted in Clients Challenges at 5:49 pm by Administrator

I had the blessed opportunity to work for a famous author who has wrote several books, life coach, has been on TV several times and famous in the motivational speaker realm.  She had a flood in her living room and damaged all of her marketing material which estimated to $35,000.  It took years for her to get paid for her loss.  During that time she lost her interest in her goals and became stuck in her mind to go further.  Clutter started to build up and depression set in.  That was when she called me for help.  She said that she was humbled and hit rock bottom.

We started in her walk in closet that was turned into a file room, office supplies and promotions.  We took 1 box at a time, labeled each drawer and put the paperwork where it belonged.  After we worked several hours, she got the hang of it and started to work on her own.  I worked in her retreat room, cleaned up the clutter and made it beautiful for her to read in with peace and serinity.

A couple of weeks went by and she had most of the boxes gone through and organized in the correct areas.  She surprised me and ran with it and kept it up.  Her last session when I walked in her house, all the clutter was cleaned up, she went through her closet and donated bags of her clothes and the rooms looked like better homes and gardens.  I was so proud of her and it gave me satisfaction to see  what I taught her hit home and her organizing skills came out of her to continue the process.

My last session she had pictures in the closet that were not hung in years.  I hung up several pictures in several rooms and it gave  that finished look.  Organized her linen closet and found things she did not even know she had and was looking for it.  (I hear this same story all the time).  She mentioned that doors have been opened for her and was able to work again like she used to and getting calls for talk shows, speaking engagements and a new persepective on her business.  I had no idea that organizing with a 6 1/2 hour package would do all that.  I went home feeling I was on cloud 9 and satisfaction that my client got it!  I wish her all the success in the world and another person in the world has found the peace of mind to achieve her goals again!

Professional organizers can help in more ways than just clean up the clutter.  We can unclutter your mind, give your life back and start a new life!

Vacation in California

Posted in About Me at 5:21 pm by Administrator

January 22nd woke up with coffee, while watching the news and then my daughter woke up and we chatted for about 2 hours.  We got dressed, went out to lunch at Cheesecake Factory and ordered a lunch salad which was big enough for a family.  They have the best cheesecake in the world and now they have the calories next to the name of the cake.  Carrot cake was over 1500 calories for a large slice and the terimusu cheesecake was 890 calories which is my favorite.

It was raining pretty hard on and off the entire day.  My daughter and I walked to the Ultra cosmetic store and bought some cosmetics.  They sell everything in California and you can find what you need.  We came home and took a nap and I worked on the computer and watched TV the rest of the night.

One of my clients joined Twitter and is trying to expand her business and she wanted me to look at 368 followers tweets and find out if there were any opportunities.  She did get an offer to speak on a radio station.  It took me 2 hours to go through the list and check out their site and delete.

My daughter went to work at the hotel restaurant at 7:30 and came home after 2:30 a.m.  Went to bed after the news and then I could not sleep.  Jet leg is still in effect.

Day in California

Posted in About Me at 4:51 am by Administrator

January 21st woke up at 8:00 and 11:00 Detroit time.  Drank  coffee with my daughter, talked for about 2 hours and went back to bed for 2 more hours.  Jet leg is really hard on me and it takes me a week to get accustomed to it and when I get home it is time to switch back again.  3 hour difference is tough.

We got dressed, went to lunch, I went shopping in Newport Beach and drove my daughter to work who works at a exclusive hotel in Newport Beach. While shopping there was hardly anybody shopping in a very expensive and exclusive mall.  The prices were so outrageous that I did not find what I was looking for.  Michigan has them beat with bargains.

After a couple of hours of shopping I tried to start the car and it was dead!  I left the lights on by mistake and wore down the battery.   It is a good thing that the hotel is walking distance from the mall and met my daughter in the hotel restaurtant where she works.  I ate my dinner which writing my blog and catching up on email.

She just left with a security guard to pick up the car and get it jumped.  We will go home and watch the Orange County Housewives.

Organizing Closets

Posted in Organizing Bedroom & Closet at 2:25 am by Administrator

Today January 11th I spent 6 hours at a clients house and organized 3 of her closets.  She just moved and everything was just hung up in the closets when she move and nothing was organized.  I decided to make 1 closet with her expensive dress clothes, 2nd closet casual clothes and the 3rd closet summer clothes.

I categorized each kind of clothing such as slacks, sweaters, tops, etc. and then by colors from black to white and all the other colors in between.  She did not realize she had 15 pairs of black dress slacks and 5 pairs of black casual pants.  She needs to do some donating and it will be easy seeing how many she has of each color.  We did not get a chance to donate since she was’nt home most of the day and I worked on my own.

When taking your clothes out of the closet, put the hanger in the hamper so when you wash it you can hang it up.  Hangers take up a lot of room in the closet, so take them down  when wearing the outfit .

Neat Receipts

Posted in Filing and Neat Receipts at 11:02 pm by Administrator

Today I am putting my clients receipts in Neat Receipts which is a tool used to scan receipts, business cards and documents in a software package and it can integrate to QuickBooks.  www.neatreceipts.com I have at least 1- 1/2 hours of work on a Sunday, but it will save my client time when I go to her home to organize other things.

Tomorrow I will be going to Somerset mall to find a dress to wear for my step daughters wedding.  It will be fun and hopefully I will find one on sale.  What I love about my job is I can work my life around my job.

Organizing a Bedroom and Closet

Posted in Organizing Bedroom & Closet at 10:54 pm by Administrator

January 7th another day in a Professional Organizers life organizing a clients bedroom with clutter in the closet, on top of the dressers and on the floor.  First we went through the closet and took out all the donates and summer clothes.  Put the donates in a bag and summer clothes in another closet.  I then put all the same categories together like pants, blouses, tops, dresses and suit jackets.  Client bought new hangers and switched over to the new ones.

Took a trip to Target and bought some plastic bins and colorful open baskets to store her knitting.  Went though each bag on the floor and put all the tioletries in a basket and all the other items in the room it was suppose to go in.  The client wanted homework to organize some of the things we found on the floor and organize in bins.

Her mother passes away less than 1 year ago and she had photos, clothing and other memeobolia and we bought a nice bin to store them in.  Her bedroom was in order and clutter free when I left.  She will have sweet dreams because there will not be any clutter to wake up to.

Leaving her apartment, I had a flat tire and had to call a tow truck to fix the tire.  All in a days work!

Professional Organizer’s Diary of a Client!

Posted in Clients Challenges at 5:30 pm by Administrator

Welcome to my blog and I am finding out that this is important to keep the world informed of a Professional Organizers life.  Today I helped a client who had her clothes all around her bed on the floor for at least a year.  We sorted the clothes by colors and put them in plastic bags to take to the laundrymat since there were at least 10 loads.  As we sorted, she did a great job donating all the clothes that did not fit her, she did not like and even let go of her mothers clothes who passed away 4 years ago.  After the 3 hour session she was in a donate mode and ready to tackle her homework after I left.

She was free from fear of letting go and felt she was a hoarder.  I told her that if she was, there would not be a donate bag because hoarders do not like to throw away or donate anything.  She was relieved to know that she was not that bad off.  She felt so ashamed when I started in her bedroom since it was off limits to all family members.  I felt honored that she let me into her space to help her organize.
