Vacation
July 17-20, Took 2 granddaughters, my daughter-in-law and hubby to Mackinaw Island. Debbie has never been there before and the girls would enjoy seeing the horses and riding the bikes.
The day we were suppose to go on the island it rained the entire day and walked to the Grand Hotel and showed Debbie, daughter-in-law the grand tour. We ate there, not in the dining room for $40 a plate for lunch, but in the hallway for sandwiches and lunch items. It was really fun to experience the grandeur of the historic site. There were pictures on the wall of when the women wore long dresses with hats sitting on the porch. It is a must see vacation spot.
It kept on raining and got down to 60 degrees. Came back to the hotel, took a nap and hoped that the rain would stop so we could go back for dinner. Never let up until the next day. Went back to the island and rode bikes. My granddaughter had a slight fever and rode slowly. My husband rode a bike with the tag-along buggie on the back of his bike and struggled to ride it. I wanted to ride around the whole island but was patient.
We had lunch, picked up a few souvenirs and went back to the room. Went out to dinner that night and Debbie wanted to drive over the Mackinaw bridge. It is 5 miles long and amazing the structure and a wonder how they built it over water so deep.
Next day drove to Traverse City and had to buy the cherries in season, walked around in town and headed home. Well it is the weekend and just unpacked, did the laundry and cleaned the house. The life of a professional organizer. Oh…I did keep the hotel room and car as neat as I could with 5 people in the room.
