Organize Linen Closet & Hang Pictures

Posted in Clients Challenges at 5:49 pm by Administrator

I had the blessed opportunity to work for a famous author who has wrote several books, life coach, has been on TV several times and famous in the motivational speaker realm.  She had a flood in her living room and damaged all of her marketing material which estimated to $35,000.  It took years for her to get paid for her loss.  During that time she lost her interest in her goals and became stuck in her mind to go further.  Clutter started to build up and depression set in.  That was when she called me for help.  She said that she was humbled and hit rock bottom.

We started in her walk in closet that was turned into a file room, office supplies and promotions.  We took 1 box at a time, labeled each drawer and put the paperwork where it belonged.  After we worked several hours, she got the hang of it and started to work on her own.  I worked in her retreat room, cleaned up the clutter and made it beautiful for her to read in with peace and serinity.

A couple of weeks went by and she had most of the boxes gone through and organized in the correct areas.  She surprised me and ran with it and kept it up.  Her last session when I walked in her house, all the clutter was cleaned up, she went through her closet and donated bags of her clothes and the rooms looked like better homes and gardens.  I was so proud of her and it gave me satisfaction to see  what I taught her hit home and her organizing skills came out of her to continue the process.

My last session she had pictures in the closet that were not hung in years.  I hung up several pictures in several rooms and it gave  that finished look.  Organized her linen closet and found things she did not even know she had and was looking for it.  (I hear this same story all the time).  She mentioned that doors have been opened for her and was able to work again like she used to and getting calls for talk shows, speaking engagements and a new persepective on her business.  I had no idea that organizing with a 6 1/2 hour package would do all that.  I went home feeling I was on cloud 9 and satisfaction that my client got it!  I wish her all the success in the world and another person in the world has found the peace of mind to achieve her goals again!

Professional Organizer’s Diary of a Client!

Posted in Clients Challenges at 5:30 pm by Administrator

Welcome to my blog and I am finding out that this is important to keep the world informed of a Professional Organizers life.  Today I helped a client who had her clothes all around her bed on the floor for at least a year.  We sorted the clothes by colors and put them in plastic bags to take to the laundrymat since there were at least 10 loads.  As we sorted, she did a great job donating all the clothes that did not fit her, she did not like and even let go of her mothers clothes who passed away 4 years ago.  After the 3 hour session she was in a donate mode and ready to tackle her homework after I left.

She was free from fear of letting go and felt she was a hoarder.  I told her that if she was, there would not be a donate bag because hoarders do not like to throw away or donate anything.  She was relieved to know that she was not that bad off.  She felt so ashamed when I started in her bedroom since it was off limits to all family members.  I felt honored that she let me into her space to help her organize.
